A. Take a moment and think of all the people who have influenced your life.
B. Not only are you influenced you are also an influencer.
C. As we enter a new millennium it is very important that we positively influence people we know and meet.
1. This is especially true of the christian.
2. This is the message of 2 corinthians 2:17;3:1-6.
3. These verses outline how we can positively influence others for christ.
I. The manner of influence. Vs. 17.
A. Set apart.
1. I am often asked, ''what do i believe to be the best translation of the bible?''
a. The best translation of the bible is the one that is written on your heart.
B. Whether people ever read a bible like the one i hold they should be able to look into your life and see the difference jesus makes.
C. Parents, you should be the first and most often read bible to your children.
2. Vs. 17 tells us there are those who corrupt the message of christ. ''For we are not as many peddling the word of god...''
A. Their influence is selfish.
B. Their influence is suspect.
3. Anytime you have the real, you have the counterfeit.
A. The only influence some of you have had is a bad one.
B. Some of you, the only view of christianity you have had is a bad picture.
4. A counterfeit is a cheap imitation of the real thing.
5. The closer we get to the return of christ the greater the influence of counterfeits.
6. Ultimately there will be a counterfeit christ and counterfeit religious leader.
7. Our influence is to be set apart from the counterfeit.
B. Sincerity.
