A. Easter is a wonderful day. We will celebrate in grand fashion next sunday.
1. Great musical praise
2. Celebrative spirit
3. Practical message on the power of the resurrection in your life.
4. Visionary giving to starlight and facility completion.
B. Before that day came in the life of the disciples came a week culminating in the cross.
C. Much happened that week.
D. One of the most vivid things that happened:
1. Occured the night before the cross.
2. Happened at the last supper.
3. Is only recorded in john's gospel. John 13: 1-17.
4. Has been debated for centuries.
A. Some totally disregard it.
B. Others have elevated it to an ordinance within the church.
5. The lesson learned from it teach us much about the nuts and bolts of the christian life.
E. It is the story of jesus washing the feet of the disciples.
1. Involved were a basin of water, a towel, the lord jesus christ, and the disciples.
2. The lesson illustrated is as appropriate today as in the day it was given.
F. The lesson is one of servant-hood.
1. The word servant is one not heard often in today's society.
2. It is a very honorable and biblical word.
G. I want to summarize the message before i give it.
1. This passage teaches there is a time to have our feet in the basin.
2. There is a time to pick up a towel.
3. Knowing when to do which will require a proper understanding of the concept of ''servant''.
