Title: War on Water (2 of 3)
Series: Where Did You Hear That?
Author: Jeff Ecklund
Text: John 4:14. John 7:37-38
Open: Jesus talked about "living water"...
i.e. a "resource" that believers would have...
John 4:14 (NASB95)?14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life."
John 7:37-38 (NASB95)?37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.?38 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.' "
Jesus walked on water, talked about water, promised water and used water for the foundation of His first miracle!
John 2:6-7 (NASB95)?6 Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification, containing twenty or thirty gallons each.?7 Jesus said to them, "Fill the waterpots with water." So they filled them up to the brim.
In this story we know that the pots were stone, and thus ceremonial...Clay pots were considered to be impure for ceremonial purposes....
Jesus basically took something filled only enough to be "ceremonial" and filled it to full to be "useful"...(6 also number of man)
Thought: Are we full enough with the Holy Spirit, and the "water of the Word" to be just ceremonial... Or the foundation for the miraculous?
Water in the natural is a precious resource:
Example of the San Joaquin Valley....The "breadbasket of the World"...70 % of the world's produce was grown there....
Now there is a "War on water"....and it's down to 50%...
This message is entitled "War on Water" because there is a war on your life, the living water that Jesus has declared for you and I....
Ephesians 1:3 (NASB95)?3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in ...
