1. ''Be strong'' cliches

A. Big boys don't cry b. The children are flexible...they will bounce back c. You must be strong for the children. D. Support groups are for wimps. E. You've just got to get hold of yourself! F. Others have held up well. You can, too. G. Cheer up. H. No sense crying over spilt milk. I. This is nature's way.

2. ''Hurry up'' cliches

A. You're not your old self. B. Out of sight, out of mind. C. Time will heal.

D. You're young, and you'll be able to make a new life for yourself. E. I just don't understand your behavior. F. Life goes on. G. No sense dwelling on the past.

3. ''Guilt'' cliches

A. If you look around, you can always find someone who is worse off than you. B. This is the work of the devil ( meaning that if you had a closer relationship with god the devil couldn't have had his way). C. If i were you i'd do it this way. D. Count your blessings. E. Only the good die young. F. If you had been a better christian, this wouldn't have happened to you. G. Think of all your precious memories. H. It's a blessing.

4. ''God'' cliches

A. God needs him more than you do. B. He's happy now because he's with god. C. God did this to show how powerful he can be in your life.

D. It was god's will. E. God never gives us more than we can handle. F. God helps those who help themselves.

5. ''Discounting'' cliches

A. I know just how you feel. B. Silence is golden. C. If there's anything i can do, just call me. D. You can have more children. E. It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. F. Be glad you don't have problems like mine. G. What you don't know won't hurt you?

B. ''Where is god during a crisis? He may not seem anywhere near. And if god isn't around and we can't count on him, what hope do we have? That's the way many feel.'' h. Norman wright.
