Take your Bible and please turn to Exodus chapter 20. We're going through the Ten Commandments in a series I've entitled, "Written in Stone." And today, we want to look at the eighth commandment, "You shall not steal." I've entitled this message, "What's Yours is Mine." That's the idea of stealing, to take from someone else what doesn't belong to you.

Now, our kids are in the service today, and they've learned the hand motions. Stephanie has done a great job teaching our kids the hand motions for the Ten Commandments. And what's good for the kids is good for the adults. And so, if you remember commandment number eight, "You shall not steal," because in some countries if you steal, they will cut off your thumbs. And so, that's an easy way to remember number eight, "You shall not steal."

I heard a story years ago about a man who worked in a factory, and in this factory they had a lot of expensive raw materials. And so, the workers would work in the factory, and at the end of the day they'd have to go through the guard shack to make sure that they weren't stealing. And so, the guard would check them all out. Well, this one guy would come through, and he had this wheelbarrow, and he had straw all in the wheelbarrow. And he'd wheel through to the guard shack. And the guard would look at him suspiciously and go through all the straw. And he didn't find anything, and so he'd let the man pass. And this happened day after day. And the guard just felt like, This guy, there's just something rotten in Denmark - this guy is stealing! But every time he comes through, he looks through all the straw and couldn't find anything. Well, after 20 years, the guard retired, and then the man retired from the factory. A few months later, they saw each other at a restaurant, and they started talking.
