I. Introduction

A. I want you to think about something That you have done that really made You feel foolish. Something you did That was absurd and made you feel Extremely silly.

B. The word foolish is a word with a Wide variety 0f meanings.

1. The word can mean poor Judgment and unwise decisions.

A. Last week in time magazine There was an article on Chris farley, comic from Saturday night live, who Was recently found dead. The title of the article was The suffering of a fool. The subtitle read, a gifted Comic loses his battle with The demons he parodied: Drugs, alcohol, obesity, And anxiety.

B. A friend and former cast Member, bob scneider, said If you need love from Everybody, it feels good But eventually the Nightclub audiences go Home, eventually the tv Shows are over, and the Movies end, and you've got To love yourself. Scneider adds, everybody Loved him, but ultimately That wasn't enough, Because he didn't love Himself. Time, december 29, 1997.

C. Foolish choices and Decisions lead to Disastrous results.

2. The word can also mean absurd Or silly or ridiculous.

A. How many times have we Made fools of ourselves.

B. Those times are too Numerous to count.

C. There is a time when being foolish in The latter sense of the word is not a Bad thing. In fact it is a very good Thing.

1. The bible points this out in i Corinthians 1:18-25.

2. The word foolish in these verses Is the greek word, moria, and Means silly or absurdity. It is Where we get the word moran.

D. The preaching or message of the Cross is silly or absurd to the world.

1. It was in the day it was first Delivered and it is today.

2. Why? Because it goes against All reason.

E. It is amazing what people will accept Whie overlooking the simple yet Powerful message of the cross of Christ.
