Introduction

A. For the past several weeks we've Talked about ''life in the Marketplace. We've talked about Attitude, work habits, success, and Pressure. In order to make it in Today's world one must also have Confidence. The right kind of Confidence is not only a good thing it Is essential.

Ill. In max lucado's book, ''on the anvil'' He talks about confidence. There is a Chapter titled, ''five votes of Confidence.'' lucado says,

Today is a new day. Hence, 1. I refuse to be shackled by Yesterday's failures.

2. What i don't know will no Longer be an intimidation; it will Be an opportunity.

3. I will not allow people to define My mood, method, image, or Mission.

4. I will pursue a mission greater Than myself by making at least One person happy he saw me.

5. I will have no time for self-pity, Gossip, or negativism...from Myself or from others.

B. Lucado's advice is not bad for one Who wants to have confidence in Today's world.

C. If one were to name the confident People throughout history at the top Of the list would be jesus.

1. One only has to read the story Of christ to gain the greatest Example of true confidence.

2. In john 7 the confidence of Christ is demonstrated in the Midst of public opinion that was Very diverse.

3. If public opinion determines your Confidence or lack of it you Won't last long in today's World.

D. Today, as we look at the life of christ We will gain insight that will help us Have confidence in the marketplace.

I. Resist: the pressure of peers. Vs. 1-5.

A. When one thinks of peer pressure he Normally thinks of the teenager.

1. It is true teens face tremendous Peer pressure to conform. Social pressure is great.
