Title: Legacy of Worship
Author: Jeff Ecklund
Text: Genesis 13:14-17, Psalm 100:1-5

The closest bible word we have for legacy is inheritance. The world takes inheritance and makes it solely monetary.

The biblical concept of legacy encompasses so much more(although monetary is part of it)...

Legacy to me can be summed up in a statement....
Live for what lasts!

Genesis 13:14-17 (ESV)

14The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, "Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,
15for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.

16I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted.

17Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you."

Legacy lifts your eyes to look from the place where you are...forward
Legacy is about building something that will outlast your time here on earth.
Legacy is doing something now, living differently, sacrificing...that sets up the next generation, extends the borders of the next generation...

Worst bumpersticker..."I'm spending my children's inheritance"...

There is something inside of us that wants to shout out "I was here"...

How many times have you went into a bathroom, locker room...and on the toilet wall someone scribbled..._______was here!

You are out in the woods and someone has carved their names in the tree to declare to someone that comes afterwards...I was here!

It's because there is something that God put in us that desires to build something that remains.

Jonathon Edwards was a preacher in the 1700's and widely regarded as one of America's most important and original philosophical theologians.
Great awakening preacher..."Sinners in the hands of an angry God"...

A.E. Winsop researched his life and here is Jonathon Edwards legacy...
