No one has ever placed their faith in Jesus, believing that, one day, they would need a fresh touch, a renewal, or a personal revival. No church has ever opened her doors to fulfill the ministry and mission given to them by our Lord Jesus, believing their hot hearts would cool off and thus need the Holy Spirit to come and re-ignite their passion for God, their passion for each other, and their passion for the lost. No one ever dreamed or even thought this would happen. After all, in Matthew 16, Jesus said, "I will build MY church so that when it attacks the gates of hell, hell itself will be no match for MY CHURCH." He went on to say, "I am giving HER (MY CHURCH) the 'KEYS TO THE KINGDOM'." think about that. The church, that is you and me, is the KEYHOLDER to the KINGDOM of God.

Now I want us to turn to Revelation 3 and read about a church who had the potential to be a great Spiritual Church yet needed a REVIVAL. The sad part of this story is that they did not know they needed revival. They thought they were 'cooking.' One time, I had a man say to me, "Bro. we had our church cooking until the new pastor came and ruined it." I said, "So, you had it cooking?" YEAH. "Can you describe how you guys cooked?" Well, we had people coming, giving, and enjoying. Knowing a little about HIS CHURCH, I asked, "Can you tell me about your baptisms, your mission program, or how about the ministry you did in and for your community beyond the walls of your membership, you know, the things Jesus commissioned us to do.

Every time I remember that encounter, I think about the church at Laodicea because they had the idea that they were good. You could back up and read about the church at Sardis because they had the reputation of being alive, but Jesus said, "You are dead." Both of these churches, in the Lord's eyes, desperately needed Revival, and neither of them knew it, so they couldn't recognize ...
