Paul shows us that right here in Romans 16.

He displays gratitude to some who have been fully committed in joining w/ him in this journey.

So much in this that I could latterly preach on it for around 20 weeks.

We will do it in one week. CMON!!!

Romans 16:

16 I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a deacon in the church in Cenchrea. 2 Welcome her in the Lord as one who is worthy of honor among God's people. Help her in whatever she needs, for she has been helpful to many, and especially to me.

Now we don't' have time to get into this fully but I do want to a little...

We think of Deacon's as only a man's job but that was not the case in the early church.

The actual word Deacon is dee-ak'-on-os which is a noun.

It is a word that was used for men and women who served in the house churches.

It latterly means Servant.

Phoebe was not an Elder or Pastor of the church but was a key leader in the church.

We know in the leadership of a church Paul was very specific in Pastor/Elder roles to be men and he was very specific that women are to fall under that Pastor/Elder role with holy followship.
Yet it does not take away how significant a woman can be in the church and how a women can lead in the church. The only leadership she cannot hold is the Pastor/Elder of the church.

You will see that all through his closing to the Roman churches. A lot of ladies are mentioned here due to their faithfulness, teaching under the authority of the male Pastor/Elder, and their service to the local church.

There are so many roles' ladies can do in the church and can lead at the highest level in a church outside of being a "Pastor/Elder" of the church.

Simple they cannot be the teacher, preacher, spiritual leaders ...
