INTRODUCTION
A. Salvation is like a diamond.
1. Several facets 2. Faith, repentance, confession
B. Salvation comes as an experience of faith.
1. Those who believe they've always been a Christian. 2. Goes aga. Grain of everything taught in Bible about born again. a. As dramatic as birth, marriage, adoption b. One minute you are not - next minute you are!
C. Then salvation becomes a life experience of growth.
D. Today, look at most neglected aspect of salvation. Repent
1. William Booth, ''I fear _______ one day the church begins to preach: reformation without regeneration/Heaven without Hell/ faith without repentance.'' 2. God put hand on people who wondered why inspite of proof - have never come to peace with God. 3. Without repentance our faith is in vain.
I. DEFINITION
A. Definition: To have a different mind, or a change of mind that results in a change in action.
B. Deception: Satan is a master of deceit.
1. Remorse - I'm sorry for the way I've been. I'll try harder - many sorry but nothing changes. Illustration: Adam spanking 2. Reformation: Do better 3. Religion Illustration: Rabbits foot
C. Decision
1. I am wrong. I know what is right. I will do it. 2. Related to Salvation. I change my method of being a better person. a. I realize the nature of sin. b. I'll try to deal with it. I'm going to stop, etc... c. Someone points out you cannot deal with your sin alone. Only way to deal with it is to have your nature change. You must trust the ______ Jesus Christ. d. Ok, I'll go to church more, etc... e. Conclusion I cannot gain victory by trying, only by trusting in Jesus. I'll quit trying to conquer sin on my own. Aware your way will not work, God's will. Turn from self to Jesus.
