Introduction

A. Why do you keep doing the same things over and over? Why Are bad habits hard to break?

B. You pray, read your bible, make promises, set goals but end up Doing the same things again and again. Why?

C. We are in a war. A spiritual war. We have an enemy.

1. You have great potential.

2. It is locked inside you. You were born with it.

3. Jesus is the key who unlocks the door.

4. Like israel, in exodus 1, we have an enemy whose desire it Is to keep us from reaching this potential.

A. His tactic is to put us in bondage.

B. He does it through something called strongholds on our lives.

D. Today we will look at these strongholds and look at some Keys to overcoming them. I. The detection of strongholds.

A. A stronghold by definition is anything negative in our lives That becomes entrenched there.

1. Is there an area of your life where you cannot seem go Gain victory?

2. Is there a reoccurring sin in your life?

3. An area you refer to as a bad habit?

4. An attitude or action in your life that is a character Trait of your family? Are you dealing with a battle your Parents fought?

5. Is there some obsession in your life?

Ill. I was reading the book, the tragedy of ruby ridge. The Problem with this family was an obsession of fear of the Government.

6. Is there an area of denial in your life?

B. A stronghold is an area of continuous defeat.

1. An area where victory is, at best, temporary.

2. You confess the sin, ask for forgiveness, and experience Victory for a time. Then you fall back into the same Pattern.

C. A stronghold is an area of obsession.

1. Something you are constantly thinking about.

Ill. The ruby ridge tragedy of 1992.

2. It may be fear, jealousy, sexual temptation, overeating, Etc..

3. Feelings that control us become obsessions.

A. Nobody likes us.

B. Everybody is out to get us.
