INTRODUCTION: Over the past few weeks, we have had the opportunity to see the devastation in the mid-west in states like Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, and the like. We've seen how the rain and flood waters have ripped through those local communities, have ruined homes, lives, and even have made the people feel like their futures are sealed in a negative way, to include making them feel like they have no hope at all. Looking at the current situation, it looks like there is no relief in sight, but the reality is, there is relief found in Jesus!

When we think about storms, we think about rain, we think about dark clouds, we think about thunder and lightning, and as a result of this, floods that have the potential to destroy everything in its path. As we live our lives on a daily basis, we find that there are many things that come at us like a storm.

BACKGROUND/TEXT: Mark is our writer here. He shows Jesus as "Jehovah's Servant" and you can see the servant attitude and character throughout the Gospel of Mark. Dr. Finis J. Dake this concerning the Gospel of Mark: "There is no genealogy of Christ, for who gives a genealogy of a servant? It is a gospel of deeds and works rather than words."1 The Gospel of Mark is also known as the "gospel of action" because the words "straightway" and "immediately" are found throughout the book. For example, in Mark chapter 2, Jesus was in Capernaum when some people brought to him a man sick of the palsy (he was paralyzed). They wanted so bad to get this man to Jesus that they broke open the roof to the building where Jesus was because the crowd around Jesus was so thick. When Jesus saw the man, He asked him if he wanted to be made whole. The man replied yes and Jesus told him in Mark 2:11, "I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and to thy way into thine house." Having said this to the man, verse 12 tells us, "And immed ...
