Title: Moving Forward By Faith
Author: Dr. Darrow Perkins
Text: Genesis 12:1-4
INTRODUCTION: The Biblical definition of faith can be found in Hebrews 11:1 which reads, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen." This verse teaches us that in order to truly operate in faith, it will require us to be mindful that our situation and circumstances don't really have bearing on what we're anticipating to take place. You see, having faith helps us to recognize what's to come, not dwell on what's happening. If you really look at it, what you're dealing with right now is something you should have had faith about sometime in the future. I'm talking about a faith that lets you know that you'll make it through what's happening right now.
Hebrews 11:6 says, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." If you want to see God do some great things in your life during this new year, it will require you to operate in faith. But before you can operate in faith, you must know the source of faith. I believe first of all, you've got to know God for yourself; you've got to know what God has already done; and you've got to know what God is able to do. When you know God and His power, it's easy to have faith in God.
Last year presented us with a lot of challenges; last year presented us with a lot of trials and tribulation; last year even presented us with a lot of obstacles and opposition, but we made it through. Our faith in God allowed us to see a new day; our faith in God allowed us to see a new year, that's why we must always be Moving Forward By Faith!!
BACKGROUND/TEXT: We find ourselves today in the Book of Genesis. This is the book of beginnings as everything finds it's beginnings somewhere within this book. Even as it pertained to Abram (who we know to be Abraham), his faith in God started with his knowledge ...
