Mark Twain once said, "Clothes make the man." ...and then he went on to say, "Naked people have little or no influence on society."

What are you wearing today?

You can tell a lot about a person by the way they dress:
- Their PROFESSION: (some people wear uniforms that identify what they do; police officers, fire-fighters, doctors, nurses, pharmacists...)

- Their PASSION: (Sports enthusiast; wearing gear from their favorite team... People who love the Outdoors; wear camouflage and outdoor brands...)

- Their PREFERENCES: (you can tell by the way they dress, if someone is more conservative and traditional... or if someone is more fashion-forward and trendy...) You can tell a lot about a person... by the way they dress.

In [Colossians chapter 3] Paul is going to tell us to do two things: In [v. 8] he tells us to TAKE OFF our NATURAL CLOTHES... he said, "put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy language from your mouth." In [v. 9] he says, "Do not lie to one another, since you have PUT OFF the old self with it's practices and have PUT ON the new self."

You get it? He's saying to those of us who are in Christ-if we're going to live the lives God created us to live-it begins by TAKING OFF our NATURAL CLOTHES... and PUTTING OFF our new self.

But then, notice in [v. 12], he tells us (not only should we PUT OFF our OLD CLOTHES)... but we should PUT ON our NEW CLOTHES (clothes of righteousness). He said, "As God's chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, PUT ON compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience..."
