Text: Philippians 2:5-11
Philippians 2:5-11 - "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (6) Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: (7) But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: (8) And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (9) Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: (10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; (11) And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
One of the most significant decisions I ever made in my Christian walk was when I was a student-athlete in college, and I was confronted with a choice in my relationship with the Lord Jesus.
I was saved as an 8-year-old boy as I made the eternal decision to accept Jesus as my Savior. It wasn't until I was a junior in college that I was confronted with making Jesus Lord of my life.
Keep in mine -- He was already Lord whether I made that declaration or not -- but I was confronted with making that declaration to crown Him Lord of my life.
The great revival at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky spread to the campus of East Central University (East Central State College in 1970) in Ada, Oklahoma where I was a student and football player.
It began during a noon day service at the Baptist Student Union as a representative from Asbury was present that day to share his testimony and the need to declare Jesus as Lord. I was still there five hours later but it was on that day that I came to realize and experience the Lordship of Christ in my Christian journey.
