Title: Restoring Brothers (23)
Series: James
Text: James 5:19-20
Author: Stephen Whitney

Being involved in ministry you meet all kinds of different people who each have their own problems. Many have walked with the Lord for some time, but over the years have drifted away. When I was a Chaplain in the Army, I met Jim who grew up in a Christian family, but during High School dropped out of church. Then while in the Army he met a Mormon girl and they became engaged. He told me that he was converting from being a Baptist to Mormon.

As I talked with him, I tried to explain that he was giving up real faith in Christ for a false hope in Joseph Smith and that becoming a Mormon was really leaving the Christian faith. But he was so in love with her that he was going to follow through with his decision so they could be married in the Mormon church.

I met another person named John who grew up with an alcoholic father and a Christian mother. He told me he never felt loved by his father, but as a young person he made a commitment to Christ.
