INTRODUCTION

A. Literally scores of Americans are imprisoned today behind invisible bars.

1. The prison is that of Financial Bondage.

2. Patrick Morley, author of The Man in the Mirror, interview 80 men asking them if they were having financial problems. All 80 answered, yes. One man told him, ''I don't have any prob- lems money can't solve.

B. Some of the most perplexing problems facing people today are associated with financial matters.

1. Financial problems causes stress within marriages.

ILLUSTRATION: A national survey done several years ago reported that over 1/2 of the families surveyed said they fought about money a lot.

2. Financial stress impedes our service to God.

C. The Bible is the key that unlocks the door to financial matters.

Joh n MacArthur, pastor of Grace Community Church, Panorama City, California, in his tape series ''Mastery of Materialism,'' said that ''16 out of 38 of Christ's parables deal with money; more is said in the New Testament about money than heaven and hell combined; five times more is said about money than prayer; and while there are 500 plus verses on both prayer and faith, there are over 2,000 verses dealing with money and possessions.'' Obviously, the Bible has much to say about money management.
