INTRODUCTION
A. ILL. If you are going to take a trip you want to know everything you can learn about the place where you are going.
ILL. If you are moving there you are even more curious.
B. The Bible says there is a place called hea- ven awaiting the Believer.
1. It makes sense we would want to learn all we could about this place.
2. Billy Sunday - ''If we could get a real appreciation of what heaven is like, we would all be so homesick the devil would not have a friend left on earth.''
C. If we polled the congregation today there would be, I believe, certain questions you would have about heaven. Today, we will allow the Bible to speak about these matters.
I. IS A STUDY OF HEAVEN REALLY RELEVANT TO LIFE NOW?
A. THE BIBLE WRITERS FELT IT WAS.
1. Paul talked a lot about heaven.
ill. He was addressing people who were facing great difficulty in their lives, even the threat of death.
2. The writer John said a lot about heaven. Revelation.
B. JESUS HAD A LOT TO SAY ABOUT HEAVEN.
1. John 14: 1-6.
2. Jesus felt the disciples needed some encouragement, so what did He talk about, heaven.
C. A STUDY OF HEAVEN HAS A LOT TO DO WITH LIVING LIFE TODAY.
1. What we do on earth has everything to do with where we will spend eternity.
ill. ''If you live for this life only you are painting the deck of a sinking ship.''
ill. ''If in this life only we have hope, we are men to be most pitied.''
2. People who live life on earth without Christ spend eternity in a horrible hell.
3. People who give their lives to Christ go to a glorious heaven.
4. Our glory in life should be our glor- ious future in heaven.
a. Jesus told the disciples they experience difficulty and defeat.
b. He also told them they would experience delight. He allowed them to have great success.
