Introduction
1. I Am Going to Tell You About a Neighbor Of
Mine Named Mike. He Lived up the Street From Me
When We First Moved to Our Neighborhood. The
First Time I Met Him Was at a Neighborhood Party
Being Held at a House Next Door to Him up The
Street. As Teresa and I Walked up the Driveway,
Mike Was Standing at the Top of the Driveway
Having a Beer and Talking to Some of His
Neighbors When He Spotted Me. I Didn’t Know Mike
And Had Never Met Him, but He Knew Who I Was. He
Really Didn’t Want to Have Anything to Do With Me.
At Several Neighborhood Parties That Followed
It Was the Same Pattern. Wherever I Went, Mike
Was Not. I Found Out Later That Mike Was Just Not
Interested in Spiritual Things at All. He Was The
Big Party Guy Living the Life So to Speak.
2. I Rarely Saw Mike Except at These
Neighborhood Gatherings. I Had Not Seen Him In
Quite a While When a Neighbor Stopped Me One Day
As I Was Driving Home and Said, “Have You Heard
About Mike?” I Said, “No.” He Said, “He Has
Esophageal Cancer and He Is Not Doing Well.” I
Was Only Two Houses Down From Him, so I Just
Pulled Into the Driveway, Walked Up, and Knocked
On His Door. When the Door Opened I Was
Shocked. Mike Was on a Walker, on Oxygen, And
Had Lost a Tremendous Amount of Weight. I Really
Would Not Have Known Him Had I Seen Him on The
Street. I Asked if I Could Come In and to My
Surprise Quickly Agreed.
3. We Sat Down and Had a Little Small Talk And
God Broke My Heart. With Tears in My Eyes I Said,
“Mike, I Did Not Know You Were Sick. I’ve Come First
Of All to Ask You to Forgive Me That I Have Not
Shown More Concern for You, Not Just
Physically, but Spiritually. I Am Going to Get Right
To the Point. I Want to Talk to You About Jesus.
4. His Eyes Brighten and He Said, “I Would Like
To Hear About ...
