Title: Who Will Be Able To Stand?
Scripture: Revelation 6:9-17
Author: Jerry N Watts
The love and judgement of God is symmetrical. (TEXT) The question asked by the Kings, Nobles, Generals, Rich, Powerful, every slave and every free person, and every old person and young person is sobering, heart-wrenching. "Who is (will, shall be) able to Stand?" The arrogance of mankind causes this group to reject God's grace which leads to eternal punishment and instead of God's grace, mercy, and peace, God's judgment.
With the first four seals now opened, the people who are left on earth finds their culture destroyed. The people who bought into the lie of this world and staked their lives on that lie, now are stand neck deep in the consequence of minimizing God in this life. The consequences they experience are anarchy, chaos, war, famine, and death.
Allow me to make this point and I pray, you to hear it; if you are placing your priorities and emphasis on things here on earth, one day you will regret it. "Be not deceived, God will not be mocked. Whatever you sow, you will reap the same only more of it." If you are sowing all you have to the things of this earth (whatever they may be), one day it's all going to be gone. To place all our focus on the things of this world is to live under the curse of sin and not the cover of our Savior. In 1809, Robert Southey said, "Curses are like young chickens, they always come home to roost" which means (Num 32:23) "Be sure your sin will find you out." KJV or "Be sure your sin will catch up with you"
To read our text is to know that the sin of arrogance and dismissal of God have come home to roost because it has been 'found out.' It always will. NOTE: You are caught in your sin before you commit it because God in heaven is watching and knows.
Let's look at two distinct truths today from God's word. Let's describe the scene, see the picture, and then answer this important question. As the first four seals are now opened, ...
