THE HEALING OF THE NOBLEMAN'S SON

by Marvin D. Patterson

Scripture: John 4:46-54

Title: The Healing of the Nobleman's Son
Text: John 4:46-54
Author: Marvin Patterson

Introduction:
One Sunday morning, a mother went in to wake her son and tell him it
was time to get ready for church, to which he replied, "I'm not going."

"Why not?" she asked.

"I'll give you two good reasons," he said. "One, they don't like me,
and two, I don't like them."

His mother replied, "I'll give YOU two good reasons why you
SHOULD go to church. One, you're 54 years old, and two, you're the
pastor!"
Jesus is on the move and ever so slowly moving towards Jerusalem.
He has stop at Jacob's well, and won the Samaritan lady over to
Himself! She was saved and went into the city to tell all the people
"Come see a man that told me everything that I had ever done."
Revival breaks out and the whole city turns from sin to trust Christ as
their Savior and Messiah! Some because of the woman's witness, and
others because they heard the words of Christ! The disciples were
able to win these people to the Lord and Jesus told them that other
men had labored but they got to pluck the fruit from their efforts!
He also reminded them that he had food to eat that they knew not
where it came from, and that was to do the will of His Father in
heaven! Now the scene changes from the situation of the woman at
Jacob's well, to a Roman Nobleman who had a sick son who was dying!
The nobleman came to Jesus to get help for his Son, and Jesus
performed the second of seven sign miracles that were designed to
show the Word that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah of the Old
Testament and the Savior of the World! This is s very unusual healing
because Jesus was not even at the scene of the healing. Now Jesus
picks up the work where he had left it! The first miracle laid the
foundation, and now He is building upon it!
