The movie, Schindler's List came out in 1993, and it told the story of Oskar Schindler. Schindler was a German businessman who, during World War II and was quite wealthy. Remember, Oskar Schindler was a wealthy German businessman who during World War II takes his money and begins to bribe Nazi officials to save Jewish lives. Because he saved some 1,200 Jews, Schindler is the only Nazi to be buried in Israel.
Do you remember what happened at the end of the movie Schindler's List? Schindler's conscience began to bother him at the end of the movie. He has to run for his life because the Allies are coming. All the people whose lives he had saved were around him trying to say, "Thank you so much." They're trying to be grateful, but that's not how he feels. He does not feel good. What is happening? His heart condemns him is what happens. He looks at his watch, for example, and he says, "Why did I keep this? I could have sold it. I could have saved another life. What about the car? I could have saved five lives. I haven't done enough."
You as a Christ-follower can have the same kind of heart that Oskar Schlender had. It's what the Bible calls a "condemning heart."
Have you ever bowed your head in prayer only to think, "Why would God even listen to your prayers?" "Why would God bother to listen to your prayers after my divorce?" "And why would God answer your prayer when you have impure thoughts in my mind and hatred in my heart?" "What right do you have now to come to God and ask him for anything?" Thoughts such as these can shut down your prayer time like cell doors shut down a prison.
What if I showed you how the Bible teaches us to pray with confidence that your prayers are heard? The Bible gives you ...
