[Illustration]> There was a little girl who grew up in a home where her parents were devout Atheists. Her parents would constantly tell her that there was no God; God does not exists...

One evening, her father came home drunk...he became angry with his wife (the little girl's mother)...he went into their bedroom, came back with his gun and shot his wife...a couple of minutes later, after realizing what he had done, took the gun and shot himself...this little girl stood in their living room...watching both of her parents laying on the floor dead...

The local authorities quickly got involved...placing the little girl in a foster home...The Good Hand of God guided the little girl to a Christian home. They were told about the atheistic background of this little girl.

The foster parents very slowly began to teach her about the Lord Jesus...They went to Church as a family each Sunday...One Sunday they took her back to her class...The teacher was informed about the tragedy that this little girl had been through...[about how she was raised.]

The teacher, in her lesson, held up a beautiful picture of Jesus...She asked her students if they knew who it was... That little girl who had been taught all her life that there was no God..."I know who that is. That is the Man who came into my living room and stood with me while my parents died."

I would like to begin our study with this question: Has there ever been a time in your life when it seemed as if God was missing? Most of us, if we were honest, would have to admit that there has been at least one time in our life when we felt that God was strangely absent.
