Welcome to the first Sunday of June, tomorrow we kick-off VBS, and in 2 1/2 weeks, on June 21, we officially begin SUMMERTIME. It is the time for VACATIONS!!!

What comes to mind when you hear, "Vacation"? Simply put, a vacation is a period of suspension of work, study, or other normal activities (usually replace with rest, recreation, or relaxation) and freedom from duty, business, or activity. Most of us have never thought about the academic definition of vacation, we just know 'we enjoy it.'

When I think of 'vacation' and how I have witnessed it taken through the years, I know that some people vacation with family (kind of cool), some people vacation to family (they go to the place where a family member lives that they don't get to see very often - we have had to do that over the years), and then there are those who vacation FROM family. Yikes. In this church, some might ask, "Why would anyone do that? I can't imagine." Well the answer is found in one word, "RELATIONSHIP." No one wants to go on a vacation with someone that cause them STRESS. With this said, I've entitled this message "A VACATION FROM GOD." Why? Once again, no one wants to vacation with someone who causes them stress, and that seems to include our Heavenly Father.

We find our message in Judges. My prayer today is that no one here wants to, desires to, or even considers taking a "Vacation from God" because it's dangerous and leads to an unwanted and even unnatural life. If you're wondering about where I got this thought. Years ago, I was burdened about the number of people who seemed to dismiss God, ministry, and the church during the summertime. It seemed to me that the thought was, "God knows that summertime is my time, and I can do with it as I want."
