The geographical location of the gospel is making its way from Capernaum and Galilee into Judea and eventually stopping in Jerusalem. The enemies of the Lord have tried their best to trip him up as they proposed questions pertaining to the Sabbath and as to signs, but the Lord refuses to take the bait. In the story before us, we find the Pharisees marching alongside the multitude, hoping to ensnare the Lord with questions pertaining to divorce.

I - The Divorce Discussion (1 - 12)

The Lord had foretold his coming death many days before, as they travelled through Caesarea Philippi, before entering Galilee and then spending time in Capernaum, and performing wondrous acts alongside the Sea of Galilee. The Lord is closing his ministry around the area of Galilee and Capernaum, as he travels down to the borders of Judaea, and eventually right into Jerusalem.

A) The Foundation of Marriage (1 - 6)

Mat 19:1 KJV - And it came to pass, [that] when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;

Mat 19:2 KJV - And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.

The crowds are large as they follow him about, and the Lord heals them.
Mat 19:3 KJV - The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
