50 yrs. 1973. DYK that PTC only had a single crossroad w/ a 4-way stop at 54/74 and there wasn't a single traffic light b/w here to Fayetteville. I drove it on Friday and there are exactly (17) lights today.

In 1973, the avg, house cost was $45k. Avg. car cost $3,200. Milk was $1.36 a gal. Gas was $.65. A stamp cost $.08. And the avg. ann. income was $9,572 a yr.

How times have changed!

50 yrs ago yesterday, 191 people united together to constitute FBCPTC some 5 yrs after 10 people from FBC Fayetteville sought to plant a new church in PTC.

My guess is that most of them didn't have this day in mind on the 1st Sunday they gathered. But now, 50 yrs later, FBCPTC has ministered/shared the Gospel w/ 1,000's of people in our city and around the world. We've sent long/short-term missionaries to every continent and invested mil. of dollars in meeting people at the point of their need to share the love of Jesus w/ any and all people. Who would've imagined this 50 yrs ago? GOD DID!

In talking w/ our charter members, I couldn't help but notice that our church was built on the same (5) ingredients the 1st church in Acts was built upon.

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching (accurately teaching the Bible), to fellowship (true Biblical koinonia), to the breaking of bread (Worship centered on the cross/resurrection), and to prayer (seeking God's will for one another). Everyone was filled w/ awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles (looking forward to what God was going to do next in/thru them). All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together w/ glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all ...
