Good AM. As you can likely tell, things are going to be a little different today as we continue our time in God's Word discussing the (5) essential ingredients of the church found in the early church.

If you're just joining us, for (3) weeks, we've been looking at the elements the early church was devoted to that afforded them the ability to thrive internally and make a difference externally. And it is to these (5) I believe must be present still, if the church is to be relevant in our post-Christian, post-truth culture.

Remember - Jesus started the church the way He wanted it, and now He wants it the way He started it.

The early church was marked by (5) qualities: (1) they were devoted to the Apostle's teachings; (2) to true koinonia; (3) to the breaking of bread (worship); (4) to prayer; and (5) to what God was going to do next.

Today, I want us to spend some time devoted to prayer.

What is prayer? Prayer is talking/listening to God for the purpose of tuning/aligning your life w/ His will. Prayer is not seeking to get God to do your bidding or fulfilling your daily wish list - prayer is one of the ways we commune w/ God to get on the same page w/ Him. After all, He's God and we're are not.

Today, I want to lead us in a time of corporate prayer using the acrostic P.R.A.Y. from on Philippians 4:4-9.

Rejoice in the Lord always, I say again, rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all the Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, w/ thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ. Finally, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is anything praisewor ...
