Now be honest. Have you ever been driving down a street or highway and suddenly looked up in your rearview mirror and saw blue lights flashing off and on? If not, it's a terrible feeling. Your mind begins to race (no pun intended) to discern what you were doing wrong. Was I speeding? Is my license plate expired? Do I have a break light out? Did I run a stop sign or a red light? It can be a very stressful moment like being called into the principal's office.

One night while driving home from preaching at a church revival, I was traveling through a small town in north Tennessee around 9:00 p.m. rejoicing with all God had done in the lives of many people and suddenly I looked up and sure enough, those blue lights were flashing off and on like a strobe light.

After pulling off the road, the lone officer approached my vehicle and asked for my license and proof of insurance. Not knowing what I did wrong, I gladly handed them to her. She glanced at them and asked, "Do you have an emergency, Sir?" I replied, "No mam. I'm just headed home from a church revival where God did a work in the lives of many people and I was just rejoicing as I was driving." She said, "Are you aware you were driving 15 mph over the speed limit?" I said, "Seriously? No. I didn't realize it."

She looked at me and said, "Wait here. I'll be back in a few minutes" as she walked back to her car to radio in my information. After a few minutes, she walked back to my vehicle, handed my license and insurance card back to me and said, "Sir, I'm going to give you warning this time and the warning is this: never speed in my town again or I will write you up!" I smiled and thanked her for showing me mercy.
