Life is full of transitions. Few are easy. None without stress. The more settled we are, the more difficult the move. The longer we have been in one place, the harder the transition. The older we are, the more stressful the move.

A. I was never one of those students chomping at the bit to leave home. I was and am a homebody, but I didn't think going off to college would be that big a deal. It was more difficult than I imagined. I can remember pulling out of the driveway with my little `91 Dodge Dakota pick-up loaded down while my dad stood in the driveway on the verge of tears waving good-bye. I think I cried all the way to Graceville, FL.

B. After we got married Kristal and I moved to NC so I could finish my M-Div. in person on a seminary campus. We loaded a little U-Haul with all we had, and our little convoy set out for Durham, NC. Yep, you guessed it, I cried from Valdosta to Hoboken. In my mind, we were not coming home again. For me, it really was a blank-check I had given to God. I was open to going wherever God wanted. It never entered my mind that God would bring us back home to be near family, much less in my home county.

C. If/when God decides to move me from here, after all the years spent here, it will be hard. Yes, I'll probably cry from here to wherever I go. Transitions are hard.

Every move/transition we have made was because we believed it was what God wanted for our lives at that time. Even though we believed we were doing the right thing and following what God had placed in our hearts didn't make it easy.
