I loved high school so much that I crammed four years into five. I was a redshirt freshman before it was even popular in college. In reality I never took school seriously, until I was saved and then took some bible classes and some seminary classes. I thought high school was about sports, reading, and having fun with my friends. I also met my eventual wife, with her being a sophomore and myself being a fifth-year senior.

If there was ever a reason for a guy to fail a year in school, I had one, because all the way back in 1978, I begin to date my high school sweetheart and we have been together for almost 45 years. I was not much of a student, though I did love literature and history. The thing about U.S. History was that one of the teachers played hard ball and during my junior year, I had his class.

He was tough, but he was a great teacher and I loved his class. Sadly, going into my fifth year of high school I was not allowed to coast, but had to buckle down and pass every class, including World History, which he taught. I remember that first day in his class, as he said "Some of you in here better drop this class, because you will fail it." I was like, oh man, if I don't pass this class, some of the people that were graduating when I was a freshman, will be back teaching if I have to go six years.

The next day as we entered his class, he looked us over and said, "Well, I think each and everyone of you should pass my class with no issues." I literally felt my heart beating, because I could not drop his class. He was tough, he was hard, but he was the best teach ...
