We're talking about the fundamentals of the Christian faith; those things that are important for every Christian to know and understand. Today, I want to talk to you about Faith and How to Have It. We'll be studying Romans 10:11-17 today as we think about one of the most important topics to any Christians - faith.
Faith is critically important. Think about it for a moment. What is the sin that sends people to hell? Is it immorality? Is it idolatry? Is it murder, or rape, or arson? Maybe pride or arrogance? No. It's not any of these. The Bible says that Jesus died for all of those sins and you can be forgiven. But there's one sin that can't be forgiven. It's the sin of unbelief! Jesus died so our sins could be forgiven. But our unbelief must be transformed into genuine faith for us to be forgiven and saved. The Bible has a lot to say about genuine faith. READ TEXT
*A couple of years ago, a couple of our kids and I went to a place in Macon called Macon Rocks. It sounds like a place you'd go hear a band play but that's not what it is. It's a rock-climbing facility in downtown Macon. Now I've climbed pine trees all over Kathleen, Georgia as a kid, and even the grain bins of Bonaire as a teenager and twenty-something. But this was a new experience for me. They put a harness on you and then hook the harness to a line so when you climb, you'll be safe. One of the guys said, "Once you get to the top, just fall back and the rope will do all the work." Well, at the top, it didn't feel like the rope was going to do all the work. It wasn't tight at all. It had a system that would slow the rope down once it started moving fast. You could climb back down bit by bit, or just trust the rope, let go, and watch the magic happen. I'm not afraid of heights but I'll admit, there was a brief moment of panic when I was at the top and just decided to let g ...
