Introduction:

You really can't miss the contrast between Nicodemus in John 3 and the woman of Samaria in John chapter 4. They're very different of course: Nicodemus was a man, she was a woman; Nicodemus was a Jew, she was a Samaritan; he was a respected ruler, she
was a social outcast; he was a moral person, she was an immoral person; he met the Lord Jesus Christ at night, she met Jesus at noon; he was what you might call an up-and-out,
she's what we would call today a down-and-out. And yet both of them, so very different, had an experience where they met the Lord Jesus Christ. I've always found the account of the woman at the well and the Lord Jesus to be a very helpful account because it really shows us how Jesus dealt with individuals and it also gives us an idea of how to deal with
people today as we talk to them about Jesus and try to bring them to salvation.i

Body:

1-The Baptismal of Jesus and John

4 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.

Here we have the conflict of jealousy when you come to this passage. The people were following Jesus instead of John, and it was causing problems so Jesus moved on down the road into Samaria! He also wants to avoid any trouble with the Pharisees! He must needs go there, for there was a woman who needed salvation, and He was getting ready to introduce her to the Water of Life!

2- The thirsty Woman

5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
