AN EASTER SERMON
Do you remember your very first kiss? Whether you are a boy or girl, man or woman, you probably can remember the very first time you kissed someone when you were very young.
The first kiss I ever attempted was with Margie Ayers in the seventh grade. We were in the movie theatre, and I was going to kiss her on the cheek. She wore braces and glasses and when I turned my head to kiss her -- my nose hit her glasses and I quickly turned away.
She calmly reached up and took her glasses off and I made my move successfully. That first kiss really meant a lot to me that I have never forgotten.
The Bible has recorded the importance of a kiss as it relates to the Lord and to each other.
Psalms 85:10 says, "Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other."
Matthew 26:48-49, "Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him."
Psalm 2:12, "Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him."
One of the most beautiful statements in all of the Bible is, "righteousness and peace have kissed each other."
One of the most beautiful romances in the world is the romance between righteousness and truth. They had been separated for four thousand years; when they go back together, they had to kiss. What a reunion!
A kiss is a very interesting thing. You will agree with that!
A kiss of affection between members of the family certainly is a good thing and I would advise every family to teach boys and girls the expressiveness of kissing their mothers and fathers.
In the Bible a kiss is certainly an interesting study.
