Authentic Heavenly Worship

Revelation 5:7-14
Let's begin today with reading our text. What I remind you of is this: We have seen the title deed of earth held in God's right hand (the ONE on the throne). It was a scroll with 7 seals. Those seals had to be opened if creation was to be redeemed and reclaimed. A search was conducted, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, they searched everywhere and finally they saw Him. The One, the lamb, the lion, and the root. He was there, He was worthy, willing, and ready, to redeem creation. (LET'S READ).
In the throne room of God, they FELL DOWN AND WORSHIPPED. TITLE...
What comes to your mind when you think of "WORSHIP?" Most of us think of worship as coming together in a room like this, singing (or being sung to), praying, taking an offering, preaching, and having an invitation, dismiss, and that's worship.
We are notorious for trying to program worship. Personally, I still remember the days when we HAD to PUBLISH and ORDER OF WORSHIP - like it was sacred. I remember; "Prelude-Call to Worship-Invocation-Welcome and Announcements-Hymn- scripture (responsive reading)-Hymn-offering-special music-message-invitation-benediction-postlude." Don't get me wrong - all of these elements may have their place in leading us to worship - but in and of themselves, are not worship nor, as the Bible demonstrates are they required for worship. It is with a great deal of pain that I recall changing something in the bulletin or adding a new item. Why have I offered this? Because it's important to know that our traditions (concepts) don't always equal truth.
Today, the very topic of worship seems to stir emotions today and most of the emotion is based on a person's tradition/opinion and not on scripture. I'll offer this, it has been in my lifetime that an ongoing conversation and evaluation about worship.
