The Reality of Heaven and Hell

Proposition: Christians today must grasp the reality of heaven and hell in order to be witnesses of the Gospel
INTRODUCTION:
We find three realities in our passage this morning.
First, the certainty of death, second the eternity of your destination after death, and third the urgency of your decision regarding Christ.
I) DEATH IS CERTAIN -
The Bible states that is given unto man to die once and then to face judgment. This sounds elementary. All of us understand that everyone dies. Yet, few of us spend any time considering death in any real measure. Our culture is all about today. We follow the cult of right now, and live by the tyranny of the urgent. However, I believe it is imperative that we take a moment to soberly and above all Biblically consider the certainty of death this morning. If we will all face it, we must all prepare for it.
Hebrews 9:27
DEATH COMES FOR THOSE . . .
A) WHO HAVE IT ALL- Traditionally known as Dives, he was dressed in purple and fine linen. He wore Armani suitand s, expensive silk shirts with the finest ties. He had pair after pair of Gucci shoes, even tguy'suys underwear was expensive. He was living high on the hog. He drove a Lexus, with those smooth leather seats. Whenever the new car smell wore off, he bought another one.
- He fares sumptuously. He ate at the best restaurants.
- The NAS says that he was joyously living it up every day. Hmillion-dollarlar home overlooked the best golf course in Jerusalem.
- But in the end, death comes for him. We don't know his age or the circumstances of his death, just that he died.
B) WITH NOTHING AT ALL- Lazarus, what a contrast with the rich man. He had nothing. His life was miserable. His health was broken. He had no medical attention. No family to care for him. Alone, sick, and poor, he ...
