Standing Firm In Suffering (3 of 3)
Not Today Satan
Josh Malone
1 Peter 5:6-11
I mentioned a few weeks ago that you are being HUNTED. - Satan is on the prowl and he's like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. - Peter warns the suffering in 1 Peter to be on the lookout for Satan.
- In the book of Job that Satan is convinced he can get Job to curse God. How does he think he will get Job to succumb to that temptation? Suffering.
- While God uses all things, even suffering, for our ultimate good. - In those moments the devil would love to see us rebel against God.

He writes in 1 Peter 1:6 - "... though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith - more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire - may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ."
- They suffered various trials. The main suffering he address with them though is PERSECUTION. This was a persecuted group of people.
- They didn't just suffer, they suffered FOR THEIR FAITH IN JESUS.
- But in a fallen world we suffer VARIOUS TRIALS as well.
At the end of the book in his concluding remarks he urges them to humbly cast their cares on God ... and to be on the lookout for their enemy Satan ... he also reminds them of their future. - He is giving them important words for the spiritual battle they face in their PERSECUTION.
- I think the principles at work in this passage, the truths ... are helpful in ALL SUFFERING.
In suffering of any type we can face temptations to believe lies, to give up, to give in. And our enemy Satan would love to prey on hurting sheep. - But even in suffering ... even amidst persecution ... we must say ... NOT TODAY. Not ev ...
