2 Kings 1:1-2:4

Today we kick off a new series on the rise and fall of King Solomon.
- Son of David and Bathsheba, 3rd king of Israel, writer of Scripture
- Some of the things Solomon is known for are WISDOM & WEALTH. We will begin to look at this next week. - But he's also known for his fall into idolatry.

Solomon was not perfect, far from it. - Like all of Israel's kings in the OT he points ahead to a need for a Greater and Truer King ... the King that was born in a manger, the Lord Jesus.

- There are 3 transitions, changes, taking place in these chapters ... 1. David is transitioning from life as king to death. 2. Israel is transitioning from the reign of David to Solomon. 3. Solomon is transitioning from life as the son of David, to life as king.

In 1 Kings 1-2 ... Israel, David, Solomon ... are all navigating CHANGE. - Listen to these words David shares with Solomon in his last moments.
