Family Success (3 of 5)
Series: Family Foundations

Ephesians 5:31-33

CONTEXT: Remember that we introduced this series as one of those anchor passages that we return to again and again, especially in the midst of life's storms.

In doing so, we discovered that there is a distinct order in the home. The Husband and Father carries the weight of responsibility. He is to be the leader, leaders go first, they set the pace and the direction for the family.

Secondly, we discovered that the husband and the wife have two distinct perspectives from which they are expected to operate.

- The Husband is to intentionally learn to express LOVE to his wife in a way that she can receive it.
- The Wife is to intentionally learn to express RESPECT to her husband in a way that he can receive it.

In today's text we see the clearest vision anywhere in scripture for a Christian Family. If you aren't sure what to work toward, this passage provides it perfectly. It serves as the ultimate blueprint for Family Success.

Verse 31 begins with a quote from Genesis 2:24 a passage that is either directly quoted or alluded to 20 times throughout the Bible. So, in other words:

- If you want to know what the Prophets of Old thought about the home... look at Gen. 2:24.
- If you want to know what the Apostles of the NT thought about the home, look at Gen. 2:24.
- If you want to know what Jesus Christ Himself thought about the home, look at Gen. 2:24.

This is the apex of revelation as it relates to the family.
Well what does it say?

Three things I want to show you from the text....

1. The Place for Family ...
