This message is about legacy, building legacy, what hinders legacy and works great for a message directed towards men or for a church in a building mode where you are trying to set an atmosphere of vision moving forward.

There is a story about a tow-headed young boy of about three in San Antonio Texas years ago I want to open with. His mom had divorced his dad, ran away and changed his name to hide them. Story goes that the boy would see a man walk down the sidewalk and go out and ask "are you my dad?"....Subsequently the boys mom remarried and divorced four more times, each time the boy had his last name changed and never knew until he was 16 what his biological and given name was.

That boy was me growing up. One of 11 brothers/sisters, all half...
Father wound, rejected...not being marked so to speak in a positive way by a father...

That was a legacy starting that needed to be a legacy changed..And it was by the grace of God through Jesus and spiritual fathers in the body of Christ.

We all are a product of legacy good or bad...think of it as inheritance. It's like theologians....A lot of people would say "I'm not a theologian"but that's not really true. Everyone is a theologian, there are just good ones and bad ones.

You and I will leave some sort of legacy...But what kind of legacy will depend on the intention and direction of your heart and actions.

Legacy is something I've been aware of much more as an older man than when I was younger
When you are younger many times it's about getting your education, experience so that you can set yourself up for success and enhance what's in the now and the near present right?

Legacy is about setting someone else up.

Having the concept of legacy filter (and I wish I would have grasped it earlier) changes your objectives

Legacy is about building something that will outlast your time here on earth.
