If you have your Bible, please turn to John, chapter 6. The Bible is an amazing Book. It's a Book that you can study your whole life and you still never get to the place where it becomes dull or old-hat. It's fresh. It's the living Word of God.
I asked the staff a couple of weeks ago, "If you're on a deserted island and you're going to be there for the rest of your life by yourself, and you could just have one book of the Bible, which book would it be? And they had different answers. If I just had one book of the Bible all by myself, I would have the Book of Psalms, because Psalms is so rich. 150 chapters filled with praises and human emotion. The Psalms is a great book. I said, "Now, my second book, if I could just have one book, would be the gospel of John, because the gospel of John has more of the words of Jesus than any of the other books of the Bible. John is a different gospel writer than Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Matthew, Mark, and Luke are called the synoptic gospels. That word synoptic means "seeing the same." When you read Matthew, Mark, and Luke, you'll find that they're very similar. John is different. Matthew, Mark, and Luke tell similar stories. John tells stories about Jesus that none of the other guys tell, and he is really hammering forth the deity of Christ. Very interesting between those two books. The longest chapter in the Bible is found in the Book of Psalms, Psalm 119. One hundred and seventy-six verses in Psalm 119. That's the longest chapter in the whole Bible. It's the longest chapter in the Old Testament. The longest chapter in the new Testament is John chapter 6 - 71 verses, and it's so rich. There is so much that takes place in John chapter 6. John chapter 6 records the feeding of the five thousand that took place on the eastern side of the Sea of Galilee in a place called Bethsaida. And from that we have Jesus walking on the ...
