If you have your Bible, please turn to John chapter 12. We had mentioned last week that John chapter 12 is a pivotal chapter in the gospel of John because it's the chapter where he begins to switch gears. We're in the last week of the Lord's life. And John 12 signals the end of Jesus' public ministry to the Jews. He has let them know over and over and over again who He is. He has completed the seven signs. That was a big theme in John's gospel about these signs that Jesus did, these attesting miracles, showing to the Jews and showing to the world who Jesus is. And so, the emphasis switches in John chapter 12. It goes to the Greeks, because the Greeks come to Jesus, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus." And then, John closes out his gospel different from Matthew, Mark, and Luke. He closes it out. He doesn't talk a lot about what Jesus did that last week. He focuses in on His disciples. So, the public ministry at the end of John 12 comes to an end. And John tells us something very interesting, almost shocking to the system when you read it, and it has to do with the people's response to the signs. Remember, John has seven signs. It starts with the turning the water to wine. He's the only one that talks about it. And then it culminates in raising Lazarus from the dead. He is also the only one that talks about this.

And then he says in verse 37 of chapter 12, "But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him, that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, 'LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED?' For this cause they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, 'HE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HE HAD HARDENED THEIR HEART, LEST THEY SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND PERCEIVE WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED AND I HEAL THEM.'
