If you have your Bible, please turn to John chapter 9. The goal tonight is to cover all of John chapter 9. It's a great story, and I don't really want to break it. I want to keep it as one solid message. And we'll go through this and learn some wonderful lessons.
I heard a story years ago that became one of my favorites. It was about a teacher. She had a fifth-grade class, and she gave her class an assignment. She said, "Get with your parents and get them to tell you a story that has a moral lesson at the end of it." And so, they were supposed to do that for homework and come back the next day. So, the next day the kids come back. And she says, "Okay, who wants to tell their story with a moral lesson?" Ashley said, "I do. My father's a farmer, and we have a lot of egg-laying hens. And one time we were taking our eggs to the market in a basket on the front seat of the car when we hit a big bump. And then, all the eggs went flying and broke and made a mess." And the teacher said, "Well, what's the moral lesson in that story?" She said, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." She said, "That's very good." So, the next little girl, Sarah said, "Our family are farmers, too, but we raise chickens for the poultry market. And we had a dozen eggs one time, but when they hatched, we only got ten live chicks." The teacher said, "Well, what's the moral lesson in that story?" "Don't count all your chickens before they hatch." She goes, "Oh, that's so good." And then she asked this little boy, Joseph, "Well, Joseph, what about you?" He said, "Yeah, my daddy told me this story about Aunt Karen." He said, "Aunt Karen was a flight engineer in the Gulf War, and her plane was hit. She had to bail out over enemy territory. All she had was a bottle of whiskey, a machine gun, and a machete. She drank the whiskey on the way down so it wouldn't break, and then she landed right in ...
