John 8:48-59

If you have your Bible, please turn to John chapter 8. We're going to finish John chapter 8 today. We've been in John chapter 8 a good while. It's a full chapter, 59 verses, with lots and lots of great things to discuss.
Now, I think that every true Christian would agree that the most important thing in all of life is for a person to come to know Christ as Savior and Lord. Jesus said, "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? What will a man give in exchange for his soul?" The most important thing in life is where are you going to spend eternity? "What then," as Pilate said, "shall I do with Jesus, who is called the Christ?" And the most important thing, as it relates to salvation and eternity, is the person of Jesus. Who is the Savior? Obviously, we need to believe in Jesus, but we need to believe in the truth about Jesus. We need to believe in the true Jesus. Who is He? You know, Jesus said, "Unless you believe I am He, you shall die in your sins." He was speaking in John chapter 8 to the Jews and the religious leaders, and they thought they were good. They thought their eternity was secure. "Hey, we're children of Abraham. We're children of God. Everything is good." And they didn't realize how far off they were. They were going to miss heaven by a million miles. And the reason is because here was the God-Man standing before them, and they're arguing with Him, and they're refusing to believe in Him. And they say, "We are God's children." And Jesus said, "If you were God's children, you would love Me, because I have been sent by God." Your Christology is critical. Unless you believe that the Lord is God in the flesh, you shall die in your sins.
Now, we know that the devil is a liar and the father of lies, and he never ceases to make crooked the straight paths of the Lord. So, the main issue in all of life is to know for certain that ...
