Inside the Heart of Jesus (8 of 70)
And The Word Became Flesh
John 17:6-19
Pastor Jeff Schreve
If you have your Bible, please turn to John chapter 17. I mentioned to you last year, that I like to listen to Q&As. I like to listen to panels of Christian people that I trust and I respect and listen to them answer burning questions going on in Christendom at the time and things related to issues of how the Bible interfaces with what's going on in the world and what's going on in America. I like to listen to guys who will articulate that, because you can learn a lot. And one of my favorite guys to listen to is John MacArthur. He does with his church two or three times a year. He'll take a Sunday night or a Wednesday night and it's just open mic. "Don't try and stump the pastor. But just ask a question that's on your heart, and I'll do my best to answer it from the Word of God." Now, he has the benefit of having written a study Bible, so he has a lot of information that's tucked away in his mind and in his heart. But what I like about it is it's not a sermon; it's just him talking from the heart. He's not prepared on anything. He doesn't know what people are going to ask. And so, sometimes the questions are pretty personal. They talk about his, "What do you do in your quiet time, and what is important to you, and how do you love your wife and love your kids?" And so, it becomes very personal. You can learn a lot from listening to that, and you get to know the inside of a guy. You get to see a person's heart. And I enjoy listening to those. If you go to his website and click on sermons by topic and type in Questions and Answers, he's got hours and hours and hours of these questions and answers. And the Bible says always be ready to make a defense to anyone who asks you to give an account of the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.
Well, you know, just as you can listen to a man like a John MacArthur answer questions, and you can get to know ...
