If you have your Bible, please turn to Luke chapter 2. We're in a series called The Dividing Line: A Baby Changes Everything. And today we want to talk about the pain and gain of Christmas.
Now, everybody knows about the gain of Christmas. We know about the excitement of Christmas. We read the Christmas story and we get so excited. It's good news of a great joy; a Savior has been born. I mean, it's just awesome the things that we experience at Christmas. The gifts that we give at Christmas. I mean, every kid that I know looks forward to Christmas. Why? Because at Christmas, you get out of school. There's no homework. And you get gifts. And there's good food, and people seem to be in a good mood and festive. Sometimes it can be difficult to know what to get for your loved ones for Christmas. I was wondering what to get Debbie, and so she told me, "This is what I want." That really helps when she tells you. And, so she told me, and then she said, "Now, I'm not going to pester you about this gift. I just want you to know that this would really make my Christmas." Okay. Glad you're not pestering me. But then, she just left it. She didn't say anything more about it. So, I broke down, and I got her this gift, and gave it to her already. And this is the gift. It's a Golden Doodle. And so, that makes four dogs for us. Debbie loves dogs; I tolerate dogs. So, we compromised, and we have four inside dogs. That's how that works. But she is so excited about little Ellie Mae. We named her Ellie Mae Clampett, and I'm Uncle Jed. And when I walk in the back yard and step on something, I have to say, "Wee doggies." I mean, it's just one of those things as I'm scrapping Ellie Mae off my shoe yesterday. But those things happen.
