James 1:1-4

On the front of a greeting card was a delicious looking bowl of bright red cherries. Inside the card were two simple words:

Life isn't. The card reminds me of Erma Bombeck's book titled:

IF LIFE IS A BOWL OF CHERRIES -
WHAT AM I DOING IN THE PITS?

If life is supposed to be fun, why is it that we experience so many heartaches, trials and problems in our lives? Some trials are the result of poor decisions on our part while others are the result of circumstances which we do not control.

For example, James Morrow was snorkeling in Florida when he was attacked by an 11-foot alligator. He was in waist deep water and said, "I saw the head coming toward me, then I saw its mouth open. Next thing I knew my head was inside the gator's mouth. He started shaking me like a rag doll. He just kept shaking me from side to side."

All he could do was punch the animal in the throat. "I think my mask saved me," he said. "If I didn't hadn't had it on, he could have put one of my eyes out or punctured my jugular." He believes he was underwater for about 20 seconds before the alligator released him. Friends pulled him from the water and rushed him to the hospital. "I think my head was so far down in his mouth that I touched his taste buds," he said. "When he tasted me, I think that's why he let me go."

One thing that was all face in life are trials. No matter who you are, or how old you are, or how healthy you are, or how educated you are, everyone faces trials in their lives.
