Hebrews 11:30-40
Biblical faith believes what God has revealed and trusts what God has promised and then lives accordingly. Biblical faith acts like God is telling the truth...because He is.
Biblical faith puts every situation & circumstance in proper perspective to who God is, what He can do, and what He has promised. This is vitally important in light of what we find in our text today. The writer of Hebrews comes to a climatic close of what true faith looks like and acts like. Especially when times are tough. Remember, that exactly what these Jewish Christians needed to hear. This is what I'm calling the Apex of Faith. This is faith at it's finest. Hebrews 11:30-40 (READ)
- Biblical Faith Is Able To:
1. Believe the UNEXPLAINABLE.
By faith, we can believe what we can't explain. There is much of the Christian faith we must understand & explain. But God never lets us live solely within what we can rationally & intellectually understand. Why? Because it tends to make us self-reliant, not God dependent. When you walk with God, He always presents tasks you can't accomplish, permits problems you can't solve, and performs miracles you can't explain. Why? Because it keeps you desperate for Him, looking to Him, and dependent upon Him.
Do you realize there is more about God that you don't know than you do know? He can do more that you don't know about than what you do know about? Faith allows us to trust beyond what we can see and believe beyond what we can explain in order to enjoy fellowship with a God who is beyond what we can comprehend. That's what the writer of Hebrews is reminding his audience of V30.
V30: "By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days."
He's referring to one of the craziest stories in the OT. Joshua is leading Israel into the land God had promised hundreds of years before to Ab ...
