When Things Are Going Well (1 of 6)
Series: Bend Don't Break
Jeff Geyer
Genesis 12:1-3, 37:1-11, 38:1-6
Big Idea:
It's likely that things going well in our lives has little to do with us. God is writing a bigger story and invites us to be a part of it.
Intro:
Each year our church does an alignment study, which means that all of our groups use the questions from the Sunday morning message. This provides alignment on how we can grow together in purpose and on purpose as the church. As we grow on purpose, it will change our community. Imagine when we begin practicing collectively patience, faithfulness, and self-control and the impact that has in our homes, relationships, and at work.
So this year's study will focus on the two brothers who handled life differently and how God uses both of them for a greater purpose.

Each week we'll see how Joseph's story was part of a much bigger story-God saving a broken family from starvation and making them into a nation that would bring forth His Son to save many.
Connection/Tension:
- How do you respond and react when things are going well?
- How many of us are enjoying the moment? How many of us pick up the phone to call, text, FT, or DM someone?
- Life events: first car, first TD, engaged, pregnant/delivery, adoption, apartment/home
- Tone in sharing?
- Emojis
- Uncontrollable excitement-can't get the words out?
- Laughing, giggling, giddy?
- Constantly smiling
- How many of us are willing to do everything we can to keep it going?
- Find yourself praying/bartering for God to keep it going
- Finding the perfect rhythm or routine and perfecting it
- Find yourself figuring out what magic formula worked and repeat it
- How many o ...
