Storms come in all shapes and sizes, sometimes that just sweep in without any sort of warning or foresight. I remember being in my home, when I was 16 years old, and my dad came home, and I heard him honking the car horn. I was laying on my bed reading a book, after school.
He hastened me to get up and to go and get in the car, I was oblivious to what had been going on, since I was engrossed in my book. Once we went outside, I looked around and trees were down in the yard and the "antenna" for the T.V. had been blown over and was bent over the house.
My dad was very scared of storms, but they never really bothered me. I used to have a dog, she was our baby girl, a chocolate poodle, named Coco. We would sit out on the porch and watch the rain, listen to the thunder, and see the lightening shoot across the darkened skies. I was not scared of the storm and for the most part, Coco was not scared of the storms.
The other day, I told my granddaughter that I was going to lay down and take a nap, due to having the aftereffects of Covid 19. I was sound asleep when I felt her nudge me, telling me that her dad needed to talk to me. He asked me if I was aware of a "Tornado Watch" in our area? I told him no, because I was sound asleep and would still have been asleep if he had not of told her to wake me up. My son-in-law is scared to death of storms, so in turn, he had my granddaughter all torn up.
Storms usually are over within 30 minutes and most of them are only so many miles wide, but they can do lots of damage in a short amount of time.
